Today we announced plans to sunset Jaxx Liberty as we shift our focus exclusively to the development and expansion of Andiami: The Quest for Liberty, Decentral’s new flagship project. Moving forward, we will apply Jaxx Liberty’s underlying tools & infrastructure to Andiami to help power a user-controlled internet and assist today’s leading decentralized technologies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others.
We expect to officially retire Jaxx Liberty on March 27, 2023, at 8:00 am ET. After this time, users will still be able to view their 12-word backup phrase for a limited time, but they will be unable to make transactions and balances may be out of date. This blog post explains how to easily migrate your Jaxx Liberty wallet to another compatible wallet like Edge Wallet or Exodus Wallet so you can continue to manage your digital assets with them.
How to migrate to another compatible wallet
Jaxx Liberty is a non-custodial wallet, which means users have always been in control of their assets. Neither Jaxx Liberty nor Decentral has ever had the ability to hold, access, or transfer your cryptocurrency.
Migrating your Jaxx Liberty wallet to a different compatible wallet is simple. You do not need to send your digital assets out – all you need to do is input your Jaxx Liberty 12-word backup phrase into a trusted wallet platform like Edge Wallet or Exodus Wallet to manage your cryptocurrency from there. In fact, after we shut down Jaxx Liberty servers on March 27, 2023, using your backup phrase with another wallet will be the only way to migrate your digital assets.
We recommend migrating to Edge Wallet or Exodus Wallet because bot companies offer multi-currency wallets that share Jaxx Liberty’s standards for interoperability. They are also committed to offering any support required to help Jaxx Liberty users migrate to their wallets and for any wallets issues users may encounter in the future.
We will not be releasing another version of Jaxx Liberty. If you see a Jaxx or Jaxx Liberty wallet online anywhere else, it is a fake wallet intending to scam people. Decentral is the only maker of Jaxx Liberty, and it is not selling the wallet or brand or transferring it to anyone else.
How to retrieve your 12-word backup phrase:
- Retrieve your 12-word backup phrase that you were prompted to record & safely store when you created your Jaxx Liberty wallet.
Alternatively, while the app is active, you can take the following steps in Jaxx Liberty to reveal and record your 12-word backup phrase:
- Click the menu button (three lines in the upper-right-hand corner)
- Click “Security”
- Click “View Backup Phrase”
- Select “It’s safe – – no one else is looking” (Note: only select this if it is safe and no one else is looking)
- Record your 12-word backup phrase in a safe place

IMPORTANT: Please guard your 12-word backup phrase carefully. If you lose it, we can’t help you recover it because we simply don’t know it. It’s yours and yours alone. Never show your 12-word backup phrase to anyone else and know we have never and will never ask for it. Please be cautious and do your own research when migrating to a new trusted wallet. We have a few suggestions below.
